for travelers

Yes, WiFi is available in all homestays supported by Action on CBT. However, the speed depends on the internet service provider in that region.

We recommend bringing active and casual clothes you don’t mind getting dirty, as well as a hat, raincoat, swimsuit, and comfortable sports or walking shoes. Other essentials to pack are insect repellent, sunscreen, personal toiletries and medicines, and cash in VND for small purchases.

Wild animals and snakes are rarely seen in the villages, however you should be prepared for mosquitoes, small insects, geckos, and the possibility of leeches in forested areas.

Tips are not expected nor obligatory in Vietnam. You can give a small amount, bring small gifts, or contribute to the community fund as a way to express your appreciation. Do not give money or gifts to children without asking for consent from their parents or guardians.

Please always comply with the guidance of your tour guides when visiting the villages. Protect nature by not littering and refusing disposable plastic. Be respectful to locals at all times, and keep noise down after 10pm. For more on etiquette please read our Code of Conduct.

Local people are generally open to phototaking, however some older people are shy or uneasy in front of the camera. Please always ask for permission from local people before taking their pictures, and respect their choice. Do not take pictures of children under 18 without permission from their parents or guardians.
