Action on Poverty (AOP) is an independent, secular, non-governmental Australian organisation, founded in 1968. We empower local changemakers to break the cycle of entrenched poverty in some of the poorest communities in Africa, Asia and the Pacific. AOP connects local organisations with the resources and training they need to drive change that really lasts. From teaching an Ethiopian family to grow their own food to sending Cambodian girls to school, we target communities with their own vision for change, and help them make the largest impact possible.
AOP in Vietnam is the representative office of Action on Poverty in Hanoi, Vietnam. We proudly registered as the first Australian NGO in Vietnam in 1996. From building sustainable livelihoods to fostering good governance, we have been working for over 20 years with local partners to combat poverty and inequality in Vietnam.
As part of the fight against poverty and livelihood insecurity in Vietnam, AOP programs have worked with and for the poor and vulnerable, including ethnic minorities, women, youth, the elderly, the displaced and landless. AOP does this through community-based approaches.
